Carles Reig

Mantra Chillout; is the serial portion of chillout production by the magnificent composer Carles Reig and lovely singer Julia Claire (Sirisat). Actually they stand behind the label OHM Spirit Sound, which is based in Spain. The music speaks for advanced level of working with spiritual and healing sounds, act as an instrument for a therapy and can lead the listener to places enriched with brighten shades and colours.

The album is variegated with highly varied instruments, which are mixed very interesting with electronic background palette of modern beats, pads, synths and bass. I like the way all is blended in one whole picture with clear consistency, conception and harmony. Same Carles plays all flutes, synthesizers, percussions and backing vocals; he did all music and arrangements. His partner Julia Claire took also part in the creation of music, as she do all lead vocals, piano, guitar and not last she did all lyrics. In Mantra Chillout; have participated and few guest musicians that I can;t pass away; Pep Ruis on acoustic and electric guitars, Ernesto Briceno on violin, Raphael Zweifel on cello, Miguel Redon on guitar on the same name track Ohm Spirit Sound. Including such instruments in own music is always a challenge, but mostly always gives marvelous results, as I can hear in Mantra Chillout.

The music is ethereal and airy. It brings you on the edge of the clouds, where you can only touch the sky. The vocals add spatial effect in each composition, which also rise additionally the searching heavenly feeling. The sound is pure and clean, you can easily hear every instrument in its own identity. Listening the whole album few times I can say that it reminds me mostly to B-Tribe and Bella Sonus.

I would like to take notice of two songs from the album, which deserves special attention. The one is the starting track; Searching, which turns into the hit of this production, by my view. From the very beginning you goes in a great mood and what is most important, the refrain left in your minds from the first listening and got remembered. The next track is Vidas Plateadas, where the flute and vocals do a nice mix and flows together in peaceful harmony. Here the Spanish language is very proper and suitable.

Talking so good things, I would like to point also few flaws in this track I noticed. The sound is so pure that actually miss some dynamic on times. Few of the tracks are out of bass frequencies and other has more, which speaks for not well achieved mastering. In most of the songs the bass is louder than the kick, which speaks for not so good mix in the bottoms. Of course all these remarks are only technical and not so problematic, but important. I recommend to pay attention on these fields in the next albums.

Overall Mantra Chillout runs the gamut of healing music. Appropriate for everyone that wants to relax after a hard day and suitable for those that are looking for peace in music. Recommend it.
